Although the holidays may look a little bit different, given current COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines, it is still a festive season. But however you choose to celebrate, make sure you have a safe ride home.

Police will be looking for impaired drivers this month as part of December's Traffic Safety Spotlight.

Impaired driving remains a concern in the province. In the month of October alone there were 437 impaired driving offences in the province, including 352 Criminal Code charges. Although some progress has been made overall, last year 21 people lost their lives and 332 people were injured in crashes involving impaired drivers.

SGI will not be running its Wing in the New Year program this year, but there are still plenty of ways you can get home safe.

Consider arranging to have a designated driver take you home, use transit or call a cab, or if you are at someone's home, consider staying over night.
