SOUTHWEST SASKATCHEWAN — Update: At 6:07 p.m., SaskAlert said conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail in portions of southwest Saskatchewan.
The forecast included the potential for wind gusts to 90 km/h or higher and up to toonie-sized hail.
Thunderstorms, some of which may become severe, have developed over the region and will continue to track towards the east early this evening. The threat for severe weather is expected to diminish later this evening.

Original post: At noon, Environment Canada said conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail in portions of southwest Saskatchewan.
The forecast included the potential for wind gusts to 90 km/h or higher and up to ping-pong ball-sized hail.
The storms were expected to develop over the region early this afternoon and track east throughout the afternoon. The threat for severe weather is expected to diminish this evening.
The area from Unity and Wilkie south to the border, from Biggar and Delisle south to the border, and the Highway 11 corridor to Regina were expected to be affected, as well as the area just west of Regina, including Moose Jaw.
