472 new COVID-19 cases, 7 deaths reported, 299 recoveries

There are seven new deaths to report today. The provincial total is now at 637.

There are 472 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on September 17, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (80), North West (60), Regina (54), South East (46), South Central (34), North Central (27), South West (27), Far North East (26), Central East (24), North East (23), Far North West (16), and Central West (9).

Twenty-three of the 34 new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Forty-six cases are pending residence information.

Over one-third (35.2 per cent) of new cases are in the 19 years and under age category. 

According to the government, of the new cases reported today, 383 were not vaccinated, 25 were partially vaccinated, and 64 were fully vaccinated. The 383 unvaccinated individuals includes 91 kids between the ages of 0-11. 

Nineteen cases with pending residence information were reassigned to the North East (6), North West (4), Far North West (2), Far North East (2), North Central (1), Central West (1), Central East (1), Regina (1), and South Central (1). 

Four Saskatchewan residents tested out-of-province were added to the case counts in the Saskatoon (2), Regina (1), and South Central (1) zones. 

There are now 61,065 reported cases, including 4,234 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 444 (36.9 new cases per 100,000). 

A total of 12,461 Variants of Concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,835), Saskatoon (2,196), South East (1,158), South Central (894), North West (883), North Central (668), Central East (655), South West (416), Far North West (339), Central West (149), Far North East (100), North East (87), and Far North Central (4). There are 77 screened VOCs with residence pending.

An additional 3,287 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,511,313.

There are 223 people in hospital. One hundred and seventy-three people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (75), North West (29), North Central (22), Regina (19), South West (7), South East (6), North East (5), Far North West (4), Central East (4), and Central West (2). Fifty people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (20), Regina (11), North Central (6), Central East (4), South Central (4), North West (3), and South West (2).

Of the 223 patients, 165 (74 per cent) are not fully vaccinated.

Two hundred and ninety-nine more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 56,194 recoveries.

There were 4,248 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan. To date, 1,082,355 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
