Dave Thomas, the Voice of the Saskatchewan Roughriders

Dave Thomas, a trusted sports broadcaster, was born and raised in Weyburn, Sask., where his early years were spent both in the city and on the family farm near Kayville. His journey into broadcasting began in his hometown, setting the stage for a distinguished career that would span over two decades.
Dave’s career took flight as he captivated audiences with his unique on-air delivery in Saskatoon. His voice became synonymous with excitement and expertise as he broadcasted more than 700 games across various sports, including hockey, football, and baseball. Notable highlights of his career include the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championship, the 2013 Memorial Cup, the 2013 Grey Cup, and the Hardy Cup Championships from 2018 to 2023.
In April 2024, Dave embarked on a new chapter by joining the Harvard Media team as the Voice of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. This role allows him to continue his passion for sports while contributing his extensive knowledge and engaging style to one of Canada’s most cherished teams.
Outside of his professional life, Dave is deeply committed to his family and community. He enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Kathryn, and their sons, Will and Alex. His dedication to youth sports is evident through his decade-long involvement in coaching minor hockey and his certification in flag football coaching. Additionally, Dave actively volunteers for various charitable organizations, reflecting his strong commitment to giving back to the community that has supported him throughout his career.
