Saskatchewan Raiders are undefeated at NFL Flag Football Championship

A group of flag football players from Regina and Moose Jaw started the second annual NFL Flag Championships in Canton, Ohio, with a pair of victories in the boys 14 and under category. Yesterday, they defeated Germany 28-0 and Great Britain 41-6.

A group of flag football players from Regina and Moose Jaw started the second annual NFL Flag Championships in Canton, Ohio, with a pair of victories in the boys 14 and under category. Yesterday, they defeated Germany 28-0 and Great Britain 41-6.

In the victory over Germany, Hudson Belsher threw all the touchdown passes, with two going to Xavier Gatin. Dylan Ward and Bradley Deis made other touchdown catches. Parker Thomsen scored two one-point converts, with solos going to Ward and Gatin.

In the victory over Great Britain, the team had two interception returns for touchdowns, with the honours going to Simon Bunka and Kymani Forsythe. Belsher threw touchdown passes to Deis, Ward, Gatin and Thomsen. Ward and Thomsen had two one-point converts, with Deis and Gatin registering one.

Team Canada ends the first day of competition with a 2-0 record, putting them in a three-way tie for first with Canada and Mexico. Australia and Puerto Rico are each 1-1 with Brazil, Germany and Great Britain all at 0-2.

The team, coached by Football Saskatchewan Executive Director Mike Thomas, will play Puerto Rico and Mexico on Friday afternoon. ESPN is expected to televise the entire games or portions of them.

The playoffs will be held on Saturday, and the championship game will be televised by ESPN, ABC, or the NFL Network.
