Moose Jaw 'A' girls fastball tournament playoffs set

Elite teams from throughout Saskatchewan, Manitoba doing battle at Optimist Park.

Optimist Park is a hub of activity this weekend as teams from throughout Saskatchewan and Manitoba converge on Moose Jaw for the Moose Jaw District Girls Fastball annual 'A' tournament.

The Moose Jaw Ice are represented by three teams in three age categories at the event -- Squirt, Pee Wee and Bantam.

The tournament continues through Sunday, with the Squirt semifinals at 2 p.m. and final at 4:15 p.m.; Pee Wee semifinals at 10:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. and final at 2:30 p.m. and the Bantam semifinal at 10:30 a.m., followed by the final at 12:30 p.m.

All three teams were in action on Saturday night, with the Bantam Ice defeating the Southeast Hawks 4-3, Pee Wee Ice downing the Manitoba Angels 8-4 and Squirt Ice playing a special night game under the Optimist Park lights against the Kincaid Coolcats, with the final score from that contest unavailable at the time of this posting.
