Generals stay in playoff hunt with win over Argos

Davis, Georget score as Generals within eight points of playoff spot with six games to go

The Moose Jaw Generals aren't going down without a fight.

Needing to essentially win out the rest of their schedule and get a bit of help from the other teams in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League, the Generals did their part on Saturday night as they took a 3-1 win over the Notre Dame Argos.

The victory saw the Generals' record improve to 14-21-2-1, setting them eight points back of the Saskatoon Contacts for the final playoff spot with six games remaining.

Cody Davis scored on the power play midway through the first and Jaxon Georget added a shorthanded marker with 15 seconds left in the second period, providing all the offence the Generals would need as Reece Hodson turned aside 29 shots for the win.

Brendan Kemp added an empty netter with 25 seconds left in the game.

The Generals are back in action Sunday afternoon when they travel to Saskatoon to take on the Blazers.
