City council discussed the Event Centre's operating budget during its Dec. 5 budget meeting.

Medavie Health Services West, which operates Emergency Medical Services (EMS) ambulance response in Saskatchewan, is piloting a program which will put blue tape on vehicles that have already had an emergency response — hopefully preventing repeat calls.

During a special budget meeting on Dec. 5, council voted 4-3 to increase the waterworks utility rate by four per cent effective Feb. 1, 2023 and voted 4-3 to increase the sanitary sewer utility rate by three per cent effective Feb. 1, 2023.

SaskPower will be a holding a pair of virtual open houses on Wednesday, Dec. 7 to answer questions about Saskatchewan's possible plans to incorporate Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) into the province's net-zero future.
