You will find lots of fun activities in and around Moose Jaw and area this weekend. The following list highlights some events you won’t want to miss out on.

Moose Jaw Gun Show

The annual Moose Jaw Gun Show will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Exhibition Centre. Sponsored by the South Saskatchewan Wildlife Association, there will be over 175 vendor tables. You can buy, sell, or trade! Admission is $5 for adults, while children 12 and under get in for free when accompanied by an adult. There will be a concession on site.

Spring Valley Poker Derby

Make the drive to Spring Valley this weekend for the second annual Poker Derby! Registration from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the hall. No snow? Expect sleds, trucks, and quads in case of snow shortage. Hands are $20 each or three for $50. First prize, 20 per cent; second prize, 15 per cent; third, 10 per cent; fourth, five per cent. Lunch will be available at the hall. Spring Valley Chili Cook Off

While you’re in Spring Valley, be sure to take in the Chili Cook Off. The event will be held on Saturday at 4 p.m. There will be prizes awarded. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under, while preschoolers get in for free. Sample all the varieties of chili! Buns, drink, and ice cream bar included. A cash bar will be available. PRISM Awards 2020

The Businesses Women of Moose Jaw will once again honour the community’s women with the annual PRISM Awards ceremony on Saturday beginning at 6:30 p.m. Women will be honoured in several categories: Perseverance, Role Model, Influential, Successful, Mentor, Lifetime Achievement, as well as Youth Achievement. The event is a fundraiser for Moose Jaw Transition House and is held in conjunction with International Women’s Day. It will take place at Macoun Lounge at Sask Polytech. Please note this event is sold out.

Sugar Shack

This popular annual event will be held on Saturday at École Ducharme, starting at 5 p.m. There will be a supper, followed by a show with the Winston Band. Please note this show is sold out. Contact École Ducharme for more information at 306-691-0068.

Seniors Social Dance

Grab your dancing shoes and head over to Timothy Eaton Garden this Saturday for a Social Dance from 7:30 to 11 p.m. The band will be Len Gadica. The cost is $15 and that includes a lunch.

Seedy Sunday

Spring is on its way and so it is time to get your green thumbs ready! The annual Seedy Sunday event will be held at the Moose Jaw Public Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. This will be an excellent opportunity to meet with seed vendors and fellow gardeners. You will also have an opportunity to register for plots with Yara Community Gardens. There will be a coffee bar and the library will provide a craft table for kids. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire heirloom or unique seeds. Be sure to stop by!

International Women’s Day Luncheon

A special luncheon and retreat will be held on Sunday to coincide with International Women’s Day. The event will be held at the Grant Hall. The doors will open at noon and registration will follow. The lunch will start at 1 p.m. with guest speakers presenting from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tickets are $50 each. Proceeds will go to the Regina Sexual Assault Centre and Moose Jaw Transition House. Build a Bluebird House

Do you love birds? The Moose Jaw Nature Society will hold a special program on Sunday at 2 p.m. The organization wants to build 50 new bluebird houses to replace older units at Buffalo Pound. There is no charge to take part, although if you want to take a house with you the charge is just $5. You will also learn how you can do your part to help the area’s bluebirds.
