MOOSE JAW — Construction in April was slower than last year.

City hall issued $1.78 million in building permits in April this year compared with $8.6 million last April for $6.5 million less.

Year-to-date permit values are $12.9 million, a reduction of $1.4 million.

Major permits in April included $225,000 for the city service centre at 1010-High St. W.; $750,000 for an industrial building at 40-Highland Rd.; $127.000 for the Church of God at 50-Hochelaga St. E.; $50,000 for an office building in the former Lions Band Hall at 441=Fairford St. W.; and $44,000 for South Country Equipment at 1731-Main St. N.

One residential family house permit worth $300,000 was issued, the first all year. That compares with $6.4 million for four buildings last year that included a 30-unit apartment.
