Saskatchewan is reporting seven new cases of COVID-19 in the province, for a provincial total of 278 cases.

Of those cases, 165 are labelled as active — showing a decrease in active cases for the second day in a row.

Twelve more individuals have recovered, for a total of 115, and no new fatalities have been reported since April 1.

Eight individuals are currently hospitalized due to the virus, with six patients in inpatient care and 2 in intensive care.

Of the 278 cases in the province, 122 are travel-related, 96 are community or household transmission related, 20 have no known exposures, and 40 are still under investigation by Public Health.

Another case has been determined to be a health care worker, for a provincial total of 26 health care workers infected, but public health can’t say whether the source of the infections are related to health care.

Saskatoon now has 138 cases, while Regina has 58 cases, the northern parts of the province have 27 cases, the central region has 10 cases, and the south region has 15 cases.

The province has now performed 16,672 COVID-19 tests, with 1,051 tests conducted in the last 24 hours — the largest number of tests performed so far in a daily period.
