More than 1,100 groups and organizations across Saskatchewan received more than $2.7 million from the provincial government in gaming grants, including 12 communities in around Moose Jaw.

The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) provide $236,151 to Moose Jaw and surrounding area as part of the Crown corporation’s charitable gaming grant program. Other major centres and their surrounding areas to receive funding included Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, North Battleford, Swift Current and Melfort.

“The charitable gaming grant program supports groups and organizations that fundraise through charitable gaming activities,” said MLA Gene Makowsky, minister responsible for SLGA. “The efforts of these groups benefit many local initiatives including minor sports programs, educational endeavours and seniors’ programming (while) the grants acknowledge those efforts by providing additional financial support.”
