Saskatchewan’s post-secondary students are getting some help from the Government of Saskatchewan.

The province is making up to $1.5 million in emergency financial aid available for at-risk post-secondary students impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The aim is to help students with limited financial resources, as well as those whose studies and employment have been affected. The amount of funding will depend on each students’ circumstances.

“Our government is committed to helping students achieve their educational goals,” Advanced Education Minister Tina Beaudry-Mellor said in a press release. “This is especially true during this unprecedented time, as some students are faced with limited supports. These resources will help quickly address some of their more pressing needs.”

Funding will support both domestic and international students through one-time emergency bursaries.

Emergency bursaries will be available from now until September 30, 2020. Eligibility requirements and application details will soon be available to students through their post-secondary institution.

The government notes that some adjustments to the program might be required once details of any federal assistance are announced.
