If being nominated wasn’t enough, this year’s attendees of the MJBEX Awards will get a taste of Hollywood when they enter the event on April 10.
The Moose Jaw Business Excellence Awards, the annual celebration of the best of the local business community, will feature a red carpet
“What we’re going to add this year is a Hollywood theme,” said Rob Clark, CEO of the Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce which sponsors the awards. “Our emcee Craig Hemingway is going to play Ryan Seacrest and we’re going to go on Facebook live.”
The Chamber of Commerce announced 65 nominees in 12 categories for this year’s MJBEX Awards on Thursday. The banquet is presented by WOW Factor Media and will take place at the Heritage Inn on the evening of Wednesday, Apr. 10.
After adding two new awards a year ago, there will also be a new award this year.
“We’re also going to add a People’s Choice award,” Clark said. “A couple of days before the event you’re going to have the ability to vote online for the People’s Choice. We’re always trying to improve things and change things.”
Last year’s two new awards — Newcomer Entrepreneur and #trending — both reflect the changing demographics of the local business community.
“It was nice to see a lot of young entrepreneurs nominated,” Clark said. “New Business is again a strong category this year. Our youth are getting involved and some people are starting businesses.”

“It’s a great feeling to have when the tickets haven’t finished being printed yet and everybody is coming up and buying tables already,” Clark said.
