Impaired driver charged for hitting pedestrian, fleeing the scene

An impaired driver struck a pedestrian with her car last night before fleeing the scene.

At around 9:20 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, police, fire, and EMS responded to a motor vehicle collision on the 100 block of Fairford St. West. Although the driver had fled the scene, police were able to locate the vehicle and driver shortly thereafter.

A 40-year-old woman was taken into custody. She has been charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm, exceeding .08, and failing to stop at the scene of an accident with bodily harm. She was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
