High school boys volleyball tourney underway

Teams from local league hosting some of the top teams in southern Saskatchewan

The Moose Jaw Senior Boys Volleyball Tournament is currently underway at gyms throughout the city and features all seven teams from the local league alongside some of the top teams from southern Saskatchewan.

The Peacock Toilers and Avonlea Eagles are in Pool A alongside Rouleau and Mossbank, with Pool B featuring Cornerstone Christian School, Shaunavon, Yorkton and Oxbow; the Riverview/Mortlach Royals and Vanier Vikings with Lumsden and Melville in Pool C and the Central Cyclones and Briercrest Christian Academy Cougars taking on Gravelbourg and Weyburn in Pool D.

Teams played their first round robin this afternoon before re-pooling and taking the courts at Peacock and Vanier for a second round robin early Saturday. Those games will run until about 2:30 p.m., with the playoffs slated to start at 3:30 p.m.

The gold medal games are slated for 6:30 p.m. Saturday in both the Tier I and Tier II divisions at Peacock.

Here’s a selection of photos from the first round robin games at Peacock, and be sure to check back later for results and more from the tournament.
