Environment Canada is warning residents in the southern part of the province to prepare for freezing rain and a light skiff of snow throughout the day on Wednesday.

A fast-moving low-pressure system is moving in from the United States, bringing with it mixed precipitation beginning early Wednesday before continuing eastward.

Experts are predicting rain, snow and freezing rain, most likely in the morning or early afternoon. A narrow band of precipitation may also bring two to five centimetres of snowfall between Leader and Regina.

No weather warnings have been announced yet, but Environment Canada may issue a freezing rain warning if conditions worsen.

The low-pressure system is expected to bring with it cooler weather moving forward.

Residents are reminded to keep up with issued weather alerts and report any severe weather by emailing SKstorm@canada.ca or tweet using #SKstorm.
