REGINA -- It didn’t take very long for the Saskatoon Berries to get back in the Western Canadian Baseball League win column.

One day after seeing their 11-game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Regina Red Sox, the Berries picked up a measure of revenge with a 7-5 win over the Red Sox in Regina on Sunday afternoon. Other action for Saskatchewan teams saw the Lethbridge Bulls prevail over the Moose Jaw Miller Express in a 15-14 slugfest and the Weyburn Beavers downed the Swift Current 57’s 8-6.

Saskatoon 7, Regina 5

It was a battle of big innings between the Berries and Red Sox, as Regina put up five in the first frame only for Saskatoon to get all of that back and then some with a seven-spot in the fourth. The two teams’ bullpens went to work from there, putting up zeros the rest of the way, and the Berries would pick up their win.

Dallen Rude was one of those relievers, as he came on with one out in the first for Saskatoon and held Regina to only three hits over 3 ⅔ innings. Adam Beamin then tossed three more shutout innings before Colin Plain and Zac Laird finished things off, with Laird earning the save.

Kai Langford took the loss for Regina after giving up all seven runs in the fourth.

Jalen Freeman went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI to lead the Berries offence, Carter Beck and Nate Houston also knocked in two runs each.

Rafael Jackson was the only player for Regina with multiple hits, as he went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Saskatoon improves to 26-4 and remain in first in the East Division, 6 ½ games up on Medicine Hat, Regina falls to 15-15 and sit third in the East.

Weyburn 8, Swift Current 6

The two teams got in six innings of play before rain brought the contest to an early end.

Weyburn got off to a great start with five runs in the first inning, with a three-run home run by Ryan Dauphinee providing the key hit of the frame. Swift Current tied the game in the top of the sixth, only for the Beavers to come right back with a pair before the game was called.

Trevor Dale also had a good game at the plate for the Beavers, going 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI, while Dauphinee and Alex Alva each scored two runs apiece.

Silas Hilton was 2-for-2 with a three-run home run in the third to lead the 57’s offence.

Dylan Parton started for the Beavers and allowed five runs on five hits and four walks over four innings, striking out nine. Logan Kinter picked up the win after pitching the final two innings.

Ryker Ratcliff started for Swift Current and gave up six runs on nine hits in 4 ⅔, Hunter Mark took the loss after allowing the winning runs in the sixth.

Weyburn is now 8-21 on the campaign and are fifth in the East, Swift Current falls to 7-25 and sit sixth.

Lethbridge 15, Moose Jaw 14

You won’t find a more back-and-forth game than what the Express and Bulls put together on Sunday, as Lethbridge built a 12-4 lead before Moose Jaw scored seven runs in the bottom of the six to suddenly make it a one-run game.

The Bulls tacked on three more runs in the seventh, but the Express pulled back to within one in the eighth before just falling short of the comeback.

Jackson Yeager was key to the sixth-inning outburst for Moose Jaw, hitting a grand slam for his fifth home run of the season and finishing 2-for-6 with four RBI. Gustavo Soto had three hits, while Thomas Soto and Will Edwards each scored two runs and had two RBI.

Jack Kalisky was 3-for-6 with a home run and five RBI to lead Lethbridge.

Sheamus Ryan was the winning pitcher, giving up four runs, three earned on six hits over five innings, Kaden Coldwell picked up the save after tossing the final two innings.

Jacob Glazener got the start for the Bulls and allow three runs on six hits over three innings, Cristian Garcia was the losing pitcher after allowing five runs in the fourth.
