Moose Jaw Warriors captain Daemon Hunt, here in action with the AHL Iowa Wild last season, is off to main camp with the Minnesota Wild.
The Moose Jaw Warriors will have five players taking part in National Hockey League main training camps beginning Thursday, but the local Western Hockey League squad will soon be receiving reinforcements from their pro-prospects crew.

Forward Eric Alarie wasn’t included on the Florida Panthers main training camp roster, meaning the 18-year-old left wing will soon be back in the Moose Jaw Warriors line-up, possibly as early as this weekend.

Alarie was invited to the Panthers’ prospects camp after going unselected in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

Warriors captain Daemon Hunt will be taking part Minnesota Wild training camp beginning Thursday in St. Paul. He’s among 19 players to move on to the main event from Wild prospects camp and will be alongside 20 defenceman looking to crack Minnesota’s roster. Their first exhibition game is Saturday in St. Louis.

Forward Ryder Korczak is among four Warriors taken in the 2021 Draft who will receive their first NHL experience in the coming weeks. Korczak -- selected in the third round, 75th overall by the Rangers this past July -- will be among 36 forwards who will scrimmage Thursday through Friday before their first exhibition game Sunday against the New York Islanders.

Former Warriors forward Dryden Hunt is also in Rangers camp.

Defenceman Cole Jordan is moving on to the Calgary Flames’ main camp after the team selected him in the fifth round, 141st overall. He’s among 21 defencema, with practices and scrimmages running through Sunday until their first game against the Edmonton Oilers.

If things go according to plan, Jordan might find himself doing battle with a familiar face in that contest -- fellow Warriors defenceman Max Wanner will make his debut with the Oilers when they open camp Thursday. Selected in the seventh round, 212th overall, Wanner will go through scrimmages Thursday through Saturday before the pre-season opener at Rogers Centre.

The Warriors will also have to wait before getting their first look at Czech import Martin Rysavy. The Columbus Blue Jackets’ seventh-round pick, 197th overall, Rysavy is among 38 forwards in main camp and will have plenty of time to attract attention before their first game against Pittsburgh on Sept. 27.

The Warriors are back in preseason action on Friday night when they host the Regina Pats before returning to the Brandt Centre for the rematch Saturday.
