There are eight new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, bringing the provincial total to 184.

Nine of the confirmed cases have been determined to be the result of local transmission, while the rest are travel-related or the result of exposure at mass gatherings.

Ninety cases are being reported from the Saskatoon area, while Regina has 39 cases, the north is reporting 40 cases, the central region has nine cases, and the southern region has six cases.

The majority of confirmed cases still remain in the 20 to 64 age range, and 55 per cent of cases are male.

There have been no new fatalities due to COVID-19, and seven more people have recovered from the virus to bring the provincial total to 21.

Saskatchewan has now performed 10,216 COVID-19 tests throughout the province and has the second-highest testing rate per capita among Canadian provinces.

Although the number of new cases reported this week is lower than weeks previous, public health is asking all residents to remain vigilant in practicing social distancing precautions.

Residents are asked to continue to remain home whenever possible and avoid close contact with the public to prevent the spread of the virus.
