The Saskatchewan Health Authority wants to remind summer adventurists that the 24/7 Healthline 811 service is at the dial of a button, answering medical questions on the go this summer.

The helpline is manned by medical professionals — registered nurses, psychiatric nurses, and social workers — to offer assistance with your health-related questions wherever and whenever you may need it.

Operators are able to help with topics ranging from concerning rashes to mental health and addictions support, providing a professional opinion for the issue at hand. The helpline is entirely confidential and free, and while service is in English, it is also able to translate to over 100 languages.

Healthline 811 is meant to give medical advice in a quick and easy way, to aid callers right from where they are — registered clinicians hear your symptoms, and help decide if you can treat them yourself or if you need to seek further medical care.

Summer activities can bring about unique situations, like bug bites, sunstroke, rashes or sunburns, and the Healthline 811 service is a great alternative to waiting in a potentially long emergency room line.

Anyone can contact the Healthline by dialing 811. If that method is not working, you can also connect to the Healthline by calling 1-877-800-0002. You will need your health card when calling, to enter into the system.

Sask Health Authority also reminds people that emergency medical situations are best dealt with by calling 911.

Healthline 811 answers approximately 10,000 calls every year in Saskatchewan, offering useful answers for many health-related concerns and questions.
