The Moose Jaw AAA Warriors might not have scored as many goals, but their offence was still more than capable of getting things done against the Yorkton Maulers in Sask Male AAA Hockey League action on Sunday afternoon.

After a barnburner first period that saw the Warriors emerge with a 4-3 lead, Moose Jaw tacked on another marker in the second before outscoring the Maulers 2-1 in the third to sweep the two-game road set.

Moose Jaw won the opener 10-5 on Saturday.

With the game tied 1-1 midway through the first, the two teams would combine for five goals in a three-minute span before the Warriors emerged with their one-goal lead.

Jackson Allan had their lone marker in the second period before Brady Wilson and Austin Woodley scored in the third to extend the lead.

Wilson finished the contest with two goals, while Blake Betson and Daxin Peterson had a goal and assist each. Connor Miller had their other marker.

Cade Kennedy scored twice for Yorkton, Tyson Herron and Jye Zawatsky picked up their other goals. Jaxon Sperling had two assists.

Ryan Bain turned aside 12 shots to earn the win in net, Yorkton’s John Macpherson made 16 saves before giving way to Landon Sorenson with eight minutes to play. Sorenson stopped both shots he faced.

Moose Jaw improved to 4-1-0-0 on the season and jumped into fifth place, Yorkton fell to 0-7-0-1.

The Warriors are back in action Friday when they host the Tisdale Trojans. Game time is 7 p.m. at Mosaic Place.
