Re MG920's comments re pain clinics. I'm very sorry that this person's experience with a pain clinic[ in this 'local' area ?] was so unsatisfactory. Would it be possible to try another one ?These are 2 separate pain clinics in Barrie .Some clinics require a referral from another medical person, which is sometimes a 'problem', especially if you don't have a family doctor; other clinics do not. From personal experience, I would highly recommend seeing the 'pain specialist 'physicians at these types of clinics for anyone who is suffering from poorly controlled pain. They have a wealth of specific knowledge and actual experience re many pain issues, which other physicians do not have.[ or ,do not want to address for their own professional reasons. [ ie: special medications] Please do not give up your quest for help. Keep advocating for yourself , or have someone else help you ,if possible, to find someplace that can assist you with your pain issues. There is some actual help out there.

What a very sad situation for this man. Anyone who has ever been in a situation of ongoing, poorly controlled pain will be able to relate to his situation very well. To live with chronic pain ,and with little hope of any improvement re pain control from the medical community , is both physically and mentally devastating . I wonder if a pain specialist has been involved. There is a specialized Pain Clinic in Barrie .If the pain could be better controlled, which is a possibility ,this could drastically change this scenario for this man. It's very 'interesting' that one physician approved him for the MAID program, but the 2nd physician did not. The criteria for approval must have some subjective, interpretive aspects to it. Otherwise, why would this have happened? Is this a problem with the MAID program? Hopefully, this man will 'FIRST' receive some better pain control solutions from the medical community .No one in this day and age ,should be suffering like this. There is help nearby.

What a positive story for Bryan and Sky. It's so important for people and their best friends, their pets, to be able to remain together, especially in difficult times.
Good for The Lighthouse and Empower Simcoe for their efforts in making this joyous occasion happen.

This irresponsible dog owner needs to have every rule, regulation , by law , or law thrown at him and carried through, justly. This was the 2nd bite by this dog for this neighbour family.
Inexcusable , for the owner to allow this to happen again. These bites were very close to this child's eye. This could have been an entirely different ,even more serious medical outcome if that had happened. It sounds as if this dog should not be in a home /setting like this. 'Maybe ' [?]the dog could be rehabilitated by professionals , and live in a much more private, controlled setting.[ie: a fenced yard ]. The next bite could be much more serious . The dog's history sounds as if this will happen again. Any responsible dog owner would be doing everything they can , to correct this dangerous situation. This little girl, a dog lover herself , has suffered in many ways, physically, mentally ,and emotionally because of this dog owner's
irresponsible behaviour. ALSO:WHY does this dog bite humans ?

WHY punish this dog?
Most animals are not to blame for their actions.
They are reacting naturally to a situation, beyond their control .. usually caused by humans.
Continue to take every action that you can with the owner[s].
Involve the SPCA as well.
This dog deserves a better home than this..
Gandhi said that ' A county can be judged by the way it treats its animals. '
This story made me feel sad for this dog.
I also understand how awful that this barking would be for the neighbours affected.
The owners obviously do not care about their neighbours , either. [Is there a 'pattern' of behaviour here , re others?
Maybe the dog needs a new home, where he would be treated in a manner where he would not feel the 'need ' to bark in this unhappy manner .
OH.. my own dog just barked.. ONCE only.. I'm going to let her in, immediately.
All barking has now stopped.
Happy dog, happy owner, happy neighbourhood.
Please help this dog. in this story, if you can.

How about ALSO thinking about 'WHY 'this poor dog is barking so much. This not a normal behaviour for a happy dog.
ANY responsible, caring dog owner would not allow their dog to bark in THIS manner , as they would know that something is WRONG in this dog's life for him to bark so much ..ie: hunger, thirst, boredom, loneliness, anxiety, sadness, pain The owner[s] of this dog 'sound
like' the kind of people who just leave a dog alone , for long periods of time . The exact circumstances of this dog's situation are not given in this story. It really is a form of cruelty to an animal , to be left alone , with no human interaction for long periods of time. The dog's behaviour is indicative of his obvious unhappiness. The Local SPCA should ALSO be directly involved in this situation, on the dog's behalf. Dogs can be removed ,by the SPCA, if there is any contravention of their regulations. Any truly ,caring owner would NEVER allow a dog to live like this. This dog needs HELP asap.

Wendy always seems to find a sense of humour in every topic that she writes about.
I look forward to her column each week to see how she manages to put a comical twist to the issue.

If you moved the nest , to a safer place, could the mother find it ?
OR.. is this never done because it just isn't ever successful?
Concerned .
