1918 - 2019
Gertrude Ann Lambert passed away peacefully on May 8 surrounded by the love of her family.
Predeceased by her parents Rosa and Rudolph Winkler, brothers Gus, WaIter, John and sister Rosie; husband of 68 years Percy, daughter Edith Montgrand and grandson Bobby Ward.
Gertrude will be sadly missed by her son Ed (Ona) Lambert, Betty (Charles) Ward, Jean (George deceased) Beck, Hazel (Mike) Williamson; her 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
Gertrude lived a very full life. She enjoyed life on the farm and was the most wonderful cook. After selling the farm Gertrude and Percy enjoyed travelling and winters in California. In her later years she lived in a seniors apartment. She loved to play cards, bingo, shuffling and visits with her good friend Pearl Blanchard. At age 99 Gertrude moved into Providence Place where she made friends with many of the residents and staff alike. Gertrude lived an extraordinarily healthy life which she attributed to having a very large family that visited often and kept her young at heart.
The family thanks the staff at Providence Place for their care and compassion and a special thanks to Clinton and Nicole Shepherd who took Gertrude to so many doctor appointments, shopping and to the casino over the years.
A Celebration of Gertrude’s Life will be held at Parkview Funeral chapel, 474 Hochelaga St W, on Monday May 13, 2019 at 2.00PM. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. Donation in memory of Gertrude may be directed to Cosmo Senior Citizen Centre, 253 3rd Ave NE, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1C9. In loving memory of Gertrude, a memorial tree planting will be made by Jones-Parkview Funeral Services.
