With heavy hearts, the family of Linda LaLonde announce her passing on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023. Linda became ill in the fall of 2023, which compromised her overall health. She was diagnosed with an untreatable and aggressive cancer on December 14th, 2023.

She was predeceased by her parents, Wilf and Rose LaLonde and nephew, John LaLonde. Linda is survived by her daughter, Jamie (Darryl); grandchildren: Parker, Gracy (Adrian), and Reis; a new great-grandson, Atlas; brother, Jim; nephew, Curtis (Desiree); nieces, Erin (Phil) and Kelly (Will) and their children; step-grandchildren, Courtney (Jay) and their children, and Cody (Samantha).

Linda was born in Moose Jaw, SK and lived in Marquis, SK until the family moved to Moose Jaw in 1966. Linda worked in Moose Jaw where her longest career was at Service Canada as an Administrative Assistant. The co-workers from Service Canada became life-long friends for which her family is forever grateful. Linda downsized from her large home to Temple Towers in January 2023, where she quickly made new friends and took part in nickel bingo and other social events organized in the building. Linda was an avid crafter, from needlepoint to crochet, photography, gardening, card making and scrapbooking. Scrapbooking was where Linda met and developed more life-long friendships. She loved her crafts, but her grandkids were her EVERYTHING. You could find her on the sidelines or the stands, rain or shine, cheering on their sport, followed by a secret toonie-handshake. Three goals or no goals, there was always a toonie. Her latest treasure was a great-grandson named Atlas. He swept her heart, and we are forever thankful that she could spend time with him during her final days in the hospital. We can’t forget another very important part of Linda’s life, Diet Coke! She held onto her Diet Coke with a death-grip and was not afraid to offer up her opinion when it was removed from her care plan during her final days in the hospital.

A warm thank you to the nurses and doctors of the Medicine Unit of the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital and the GRU of Providence Place for their care and support over the past year. Thank you to the dozens of nurses from Moose Jaw Homecare that provided support to Linda for many years. A heartfelt thank you to the Palliative Unit (3A) at the Pasqua Hospital. These nurses and doctors are beyond amazing and a Godsend to my Mom and her family.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate and interment will take place at St John’s Cemetery in Marquis, SK at a later date.
