It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother Laurianne Gaucher. Laurianne died peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the age of 102, in the presence of family who she loved unreservedly.
Laurianne was born in Courval, Saskatchewan, on May 31, 1923, to Lauria and Exilina (née Gaudreau) Blanchette. She spent her early years on the farm near Courval and attended school in Courval then Coderre then Gravelbourg. She went on to attend Normal School in Moose Jaw which was followed by her first teaching position in Gravelbourg. Laurianne, and the love of her life, Edgar Gaucher, were married in 1944 and spent 65 wonderful years together.
They settled in Trewdale, Saskatchewan, in 1945 where they ran the general store, post office, and grain elevator. In 1954, they built a house in Moose Jaw where they lived for over 50 years. Laurianne was a dedicated homemaker and sometimes substitute teacher. After they retired in 1980, Laurianne and Edgar spent their winters in Arizona and their summers in Moose Jaw enjoying their garden, time spent with family and friends and the occasional game of golf. Laurianne spent her final 18 years living in the Atria Mulberry Estates retirement home.
Laurianne was known for her sharp mind, quick wit, strong faith, and great cooking! She loved spending time with her family, dancing, playing cards and laughing over a good joke!
She will be lovingly remembered by her four sons Richard (Evelynn), Martin (late Gay McPhail), Adrien (Lori) and Leonard (Tammy); her grandchildren Danielle (Kaelan), Benita (Kevin), Tara (Spencer), Janelle (Brandon), Tristan, Samantha (Justin) and Marc (Jaimee); her great-grandchildren Simon, Patrick, Riley, Theo, Lydia, Emberley, Scarlett, Nora, Benjamin and Eloise. Laurianne is survived by sisters-in-law Jeannine Blanchette, Claire Blanchette, Hélène Seager, Yvette Gaucher, Marilyne Gaucher and Diane Yohemas.
Laurianne was predeceased by her loving husband Edgar in 2010 and infant son Lucien. She was also predeceased by her brothers Conrad and Noel Blanchette; sister and brother-in-law Rose-Aimée and Alex McGregor; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Lucien Gaucher, David Seager, Louis Gaucher, Gilbert and Dolores Gaucher, Sr. Eveline Gaucher, Lionel Gaucher, Olivier and Pauline Gaucher, Alix Gaucher, Denis Gaucher and Eleanor Christie, Gerry and Claire Wirges, Ed Yohemas, and grandchild Micheal.
