Ernest Edward (Ed) Bruce Kew
April 15, 1930 – June 15, 2021

Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to Natalie & Ernest Kew, Ed passed away in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 91yrs. Ed lived a full and rewarding life giving his heart and time to everything he believed in. He began his working career at the age of 15 at Robin Hood Mills in Moose Jaw, SK. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces and served overseas and in various posts across Canada, always actively involved in his community. His career in the Air Force as an Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) technician fulfilled his childhood interests and he continued to teach others and advocate for responsible weapon ownership. He was recognized for his dedication and commitment with St. John Ambulance, Fish & Game, Search & Rescue, RCMP (as Auxiliary & Jail Guard) & the Conservative Party of Canada. He received life membership in the IABTI, the Falkland Seniors and the North American Hunting Club. He was a member of the Kalamalka Masonic Lodge in Vernon and enjoyed the Masonic Fraternity for years including the Shrine. He and his wife, Brenda, retired to Falkland in 1996 where he was very happy.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 34 years, Brenda Kew, children Ernie (Josee) Kew, Bill Kew, Phyllis Bastarache, sister Grace (Colin) Brown, step-children Jeff (Amanda) Smith, Karen (Doug) Needham, Christopher (Leilani) Smith, 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Ed was predeceased by his youngest son, Richard, in 1983.

A celebration of life tea will be held in the Falkland Hall at a later date to be announced.

Donations may be made in Ed’s memory to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
