It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Jensen (née: Jones).  She passed peacefully with her family at her side (just as she spent her life) on Thursday, June 13th, 2019 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, after a short battle with cancer.  Marilyn was born on Christmas Day in Moosomin, Saskatchewan in 1942.

She was predeceased by her parents, Victor and Evelyn Jones; and sister, Vicky (Archie).

Left to mourn her passing and to continue spreading her love are her husband, Kristian Jensen; sons, Kurt and Darcy (Stacie); and her grandchildren: Hannah, Max, Victor and Jack.  Also missing her terribly are her sisters, Dian Denet (George) and Donelda Barnabe (Marcel); as well as many nieces and nephews, friends and in-laws both in Canada and in Denmark.  Her beloved rescue dog, Tilly, is also left without a mom and best friend.

Soft-spoken yet outspoken, Marilyn was an incredibly strong and independent woman, sometimes with a ‘razor tongue’, yet she was also the kindest, warmest person you could ever meet.  Anyone who met her was touched by her gentle and tender nature.  She instilled in everyone a great love of family and friends, but also a passion for all animals, both pets and wildlife, and the environment.  Everyone who had the privilege of meeting Marilyn knows she was always rescuing…both animals and people…and she became ‘mom’ to so many including Ross, Penny, Uly and Mel.  She taught everyone a little patience, compassion and empathy.  She taught us the importance of following our bliss.  She made us better people.  She also made us all eat our vegetables.

Marilyn took care of everyone and everything.  She was always feeding us, and it was always delicious, whether it be one of her experimental dishes, her comfort food standards like poached egg breakfasts or her world-famous potato salad.  Her professional cake decorating skills were unsurpassed and she carried this talent into all her dog cookies that she made for Metro Pet Market.

We will all miss Marilyn’s unique sense of style and fashion, her beautiful smile and her infectious laugh.  But mostly we will miss her words of encouragement and comfort.  She made everything better.

Marilyn, nobody is prepared to lose you this soon.  Love forever.

A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 29th, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marilyn’s name may be made to the Metro Pet Foundation, 1637 Victoria Ave, Regina, SK, S4P 0P8.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
