Norman Oscar Hurtig, aged 91 years of Central Butte, SK passed away on Wednesday, May 1st, 2019. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Thilda Hurtig; siblings: Len, Lila (Art), Cecil (Pat), and Elvin (Elsie); former wife, Marj Hurtig (Boorman); and special friend, Olive Badger. 

Norman is survived by his sister, Beatrice Murdock; nieces and nephews and their families: Lanny Murdock, Calgary, AB, Karen Murdock (Adrian Ewen predeceased), Saskatoon, SK, Heather Goss (Ralph), Regina, SK, Faye Patmore (Larry), Fort Vermilion, AB, Bud Kurz (Heidi), Roberts Creek, BC, Alana Nordstrand (Doug), Port Coquitlam, BC, Karl Kurz (Ellen), Burnaby, BC, Eileen Burke (Mike), Whitehorse, YT, Deb Cairns, Unity, SK, Rodger Hurtig, Unity, SK and Denise Hurtig, Cobble Hill, BC.  Also left to mourn: Chris Boorman (Darlene), Terry Boorman (Marina), Jim Boorman (Dana), and John Boorman (Cindy). 

Norman was born in the Riverhurst district on August 8th, 1927.  During his Norman ran a gravel and backhoe business as well as a car and tractor dealership.  Most of all, Norman enjoyed farming with his brother, Len.  Norman loved dancing and old-time music.  He enjoyed travelling and joining friends at coffee row at the Moose Jaw Co-op.  The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Central Butte Regency Manor for the excellent care, compassion and support given to Norman during his stay with them. 

A Celebration of Norman’s Life will be held on Thursday, May 9th, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Central Butte Seniors Centre, Central Butte, SK.  A private family interment will take place at Central Butte Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Norman’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Michelle Surtees, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
