With deep sadness we announce that Ronald Keith Horton passed away on July 21, 2021, after a brief illness. Ronald was predeceased by his parents Leslie and Bessie Horton, his brothers Ken, Norm, and sister Edna. He is survived by his brother Bill and his wife, their three children and their families. Ron was a devoted husband to Jane, his wife of 58 years; a caring father to Donna (Patrick), Diane (Kelly) and David (Krista) and a loving grandfather to Erin (Trevor), Shane, Greg (Kassy), Brett (Kirsten), Amy (Brett), Kelsey (Justin), Carly (Deon) and Erika (Matthew). He was enjoying his role as great grandfather to Saidie, Alma, Ryker, and Rilyn. Ron was born in Sprucedale, Ontario on November 21, 1940. He attended school in Burks Falls, Ontario. He joined the military in 1959 and was stationed in Ottawa, Baden Baden, Lahr, Buhl, Yellowknife, Moose Jaw, Portage la Prairie and Winnipeg. Ron retired with the rank of Master Warrant Officer in 1985. Later he worked for Investors’ Group for 13 years. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Moose Jaw Branch #59 and served on the executive for several years until his passing. In his retirement, Ron enjoyed golfing, camping at Thomson Lake and travelling with the love of his life — his Janey. He was known for his positive attitude, wonderful smile and for giving the biggest hugs. Ron made everyone he met feel important and was a good listener and storyteller with a great sense of humour. His grandkids will always remember story times on his knee that started off with “Once upon a time…” He was our family’s rock. We wish we had more time with him, but Dad told us he felt like he won the lottery by making it to 80 and having a beautifully rich life. “Tally-ho the fox Dad!” At Dad’s request there will be no funeral. Those who wish can donation in Dad’s memory to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #59, 268 High Street West Moose Jaw, Sk. S6H 1S8. In living memory of Ronald, a memorial planting will be made by Jones-Parkview Funeral Services. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.jonesparkview.com (Obituaries). - Funeral Director
