Sharon VIOLET GILBERT (Nee COULTER)

November 14, 1941 - November 26, 2019

It is with deep sadness that the family of Sharon Violet Gilbert (nee Coulter) announce her passing on November 26, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson Disease.  Mom was born in Moose Jaw and raised on the family farm in the Crestwynd area. She enjoyed the freedom and fresh air of the farm life and took every opportunity to be outside in the sun. She excelled in music and completed the Royal Conservatory of Music grade 8 for piano. After completing high school, Mom attended teachers college and taught for several years at Red Lake and Boharm Schools. Mom met the love of her life, Bryan Gilbert, and they were married in 1961, starting their family shortly thereafter. Mom worked in a variety of positions throughout her career that included time at Macleod's, Co-op, drove a school bus, all while having a very active role in the farming operations. Mom was an excellent cook and baker and always made sure everyone was well fed. She was a tireless worker and instilled many strong characteristics in all of us. After selling the farm and returning to Moose Jaw Mom enjoyed her garden and spending time with family. She also travelled frequently accompanying Dad to his many trapshooting events. Mom was pre-deceased by her parents, Reg and Violet Coulter, and sister Cora Coulter. She will be lovingly remembered by husband Bryan Gilbert; children Shelley (Marcel) Presseault, Kevin (Bonnie) Gilbert, Shawn Gilbert (Gabrielle Belanger); grandchildren Carmine (Kenneth Sharkey), Kelsi, Reese, Gabriel; great granddaughter Isadora; sister Terry (Spencer) Barber, extended family members and many friends.  In lieu of flowers, for those so wishing, memorial donations may be directed to Parkinson Canada, or a preferred charity of your choice.  Special thanks are extended to the nurses and staff of Golden Road at Pioneer Lodge for their dedicated  care of Mom during her stay.  A Memorial Tea is scheduled for Saturday December 14, 2019 from 1-4 pm at Jones-Parkview Reception Lounge located at 474 Hochelaga Street West, Moose Jaw, SK. In living memory of a memorial planting will be made by Jones - Parkview Funeral Services. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com or www.parkviewfuneralchapel.ca  (Obituaries).
