Ernest John Gadd (E.J.) passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15th, 2019 at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital, wrapped in the love of his three children and their families: Yvonne Marshall, Carrol Henderson and Garry and Tami Gadd.

Born to John and Maud Gadd on May 30th, 1931, Ernie and his brothers: Donald (deceased), Melvin (deceased), and Ken (Denise), grew up on the family farm and carried on the legacy of their father, each becoming farmers themselves.  Ernie farmed his entire life in the Tilney and Stelcam areas.  He loved the land and eventually taught his son to follow in the family tradition.  When Ernie moved into the Mulberry Estates, he happily went out to the farm to putter around, cut grass, and tinker the day away, helping out where he could.

Ernie married Beatrice Liebreich on July 5th, 1951 and was the father to three children and grandfather to nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  Ernie leaves to mourn, his daughter, Yvonne and Revee; daughter, Carrol and her children Carrie (Brent) Johnson, Tracy Henderson, Kelly (Clarke) Watkiss, and Isiah Henderson; great-grandchildren: Carrie and Brent’s children Brittany (Steve), Brayden, Caitlyn, Ethan (E.J.) and Josh, Tracy’s children Kalix, Davis, Trayceon, and Mckayo, Kelly and Clarke’s children Madisyn, Alexis, Dominic and Emerson; son, Garry (Tami) and their children Brian (Quijuana) and Eric, and Brooke and Tyler who were tragically taken in 1986; as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.  Even though Ernie loved the land, he loved his family and his Lord more.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand and he loved to be around family and friends, the lake in the summer, and the skidoo in the winter.  Ernie travelled to Zimbabwe and helped organize and plant an orange grove.  He also taught mechanics and agriculture at the Secondary School there.  He participated in 8 mission trips to Northern Mexico that helped to establish a school for the youth.  Ernie spent his retired years helping on the farm in the summer, and in Mesa, Arizona in the winter.  We will miss you Dad and Grandpa.

A Celebration of Ernie’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 22nd, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 409 Oxford St W, Moose Jaw SK.  Many thanks to Dr. Rininsland, the kindness and compassion of the nursing staff at the hospital, and to all the staff at Mulberry Estates that gave him a great place to live and call home.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Ernie’s name may be made to Parkinson Canada, 2103 Airport Dr #110B, Saskatoon, SK S7L 6W2.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Michelle Surtees, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
