Alan Elsworth

Born March 8, 1932, in England, Alan Elsworth is predeceased by his parents Ernest and Fanny and siblings Roland Elsworth and Violet Swallow. Alan lived a difficult childhood in the 30’s and 40’s and therefore fibbed about his age to serve his country before he was supposed to. He literally threw himself into it and became a paratrooper, rising to join the elite S.A.S and jumping out of airplanes in many different countries doing what he must to ensure freedom for his countrymen. He was truly a hero as only those who fought those wars could be. He didn’t talk much about it, but you knew how deeply he was affected. He married Joan (nee Catton) in 1953 and they raised four children together. They all came to Canada in 1965 in search of a better future. Sadly, the marriage dissolved in the 90’s and life moved forward for everyone. Al became an iron worker after his service and dedicated his life to that until he retired in the 80’s. If you knew Al, you knew he was a hard worker, a solid friend and a man who loved deep and silent. Rough and tough on the outside but the dedication to those he loved was undeniable. He met his second wife, Chris and that love blossomed into marriage in 1996. They spent 11 more years together living in the country and dedicating their lives to each other and enjoying retirement before she passed in 2007. They loved to have family over for BBQ’s and pool parties and they enjoyed spending time with friends at their favorite pub when they came to town for supplies. He continued that tradition until he could no longer get through the doors. Al braved a tough fight with different cancers but sadly lost his battle on July 8, 2021, with his family by his side. We are devastated to lose him, but we know he no longer suffers and are sure Chris was waiting patiently to reunite with him. Al is survived by his children Tony, Robert (Ruth), Paul (Julie) and Linda (Aaron); stepchildren, Julie, and Howard (Misty); grandchildren, Chelsea, Tyler, Samuel, Jessica, Calin, Ryeker and Chaz, all of whom already miss his presence. If he said the words, “Take it steady” to you when he said goodbye...just know you were loved. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at 1:30 pm at Parkview Funeral Chapel in Moose Jaw. A sharing of memories will be held at Bobby's Place Olde World Tavern following the service. Details to follow. Donations to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, 4545 Parliament Ave #200, Regina, SK S4W 0G3, would be lovingly appreciated. In living memory of Alan, a memorial planting will be made by Jones-Parkview Funeral Services. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.jonesparkview.com (Obituaries).
