HUGH RODERICK COLWELL
AUGUST 15, 1935 – NOVEMBER 12, 2020
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Hugh Colwell on Thursday November 12, 2020 at Providence Place, Moose Jaw, SK. Born in Lacombe Alberta on August 15, 1935, Hugh was predeceased by his mother and father, his wife, Loen, sister Isabelle Helderwerdt, and step-sister Alice. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Velma Colwell, sister-in-law, Nelda Peirce, his children, Rod Colwell and his daughter Kim and Doug Hamill (Marissa, Kelsey, Warren, and Hillary) and kids Blair and Kristen. Arthur Colwell and kids Amber, Christine (Dwayne Gillis), and kids Chelsea (Zack) Turlock, Taylor Nichol. Our dad was a strong-willed individual who always told us, “No such thing as can’t.” We could always find him in the backyard in his huge garden. He loved his radios, stamp collecting, and reading western novels. He was always a great storyteller of his youth and life on the farm. He worked most of his years caretaking. His home was where all the neighbourhood kids would hang out and be a second dad for most of them. The family would like to give a huge thank you to the staff at Edgar Hall Providence Place, who were like our dads family and we appreciate all you did for him. A Private Family Service will take place at a later date. Memorial donations in Hugh’s memory may be directed to Moose Jaw Diversified Services, 11 Wood Lily Dr, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 1H.
