John Almond was born to Alan Haig Almond and Kathleen Margaret (nee Hogan) at Christchurch, New Zealand, on May 19, 1946. He was brother to David (1948-2018, Australia). John passed away peacefully in his home with his partner and companion Pam Frigon by his side, after a brave battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Tracie (Wellington NZ) and Jason (Christchurch NZ), and grandsons Max and Jake. John was full of life with a sharp wit, kind nature and generous heart. He cherished his friendships. He had a passion for all things automotive, particularly classic cars, and for his cherished Boston Terriers (Winston and Molly). John began his career in 1966, earning the distinction of top apprentice in New Zealand for the Trade Certificate in Painting and Decorating. Following this, John became an Officer with the NZ Ministry of Transport in 1970 until his retirement in 1999. After immigrating to Canada in 2000, John spent his time as building manager in senior’s homes until his retirement in 2018. Special gratitude is given to the medical and palliative home care professionals in Regina, who made it possible for John to spend his final months in relative comfort. In living memory of John, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
