The University of Saskatchewan won its annual homecoming football game thanks to Ryker Frank's career-best performance.

The fourth-year running back carried the football 34 times for 223 yards and three touchdowns in a 44-40 double overtime win against the University of Calgary Dinos.

8,766 fans were at Griffiths Stadium to watch the Regina native set new single-game career highs in carries, rushing yards and touchdowns. The five-foot-10, 198-pound back left his mark in the program's single-game record book, ranking second all-time for carries, tied fourth for rushing yards and tied second for touchdowns.

Head coach Scott Flory and his team started the 2024 season 0-2 with losses at Manitoba and at Regina, but riding Frank helped Saskatchewan secure the team's first win this year.

Quarterback Anton Amundrud completed 25-of-33 passes for 286 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. Jesse Kuntz grabbed four balls for 110 yards while Rhett Vavra caught seven for 88 yards.

Defensively, third-year defensive back Carter Stadnyk led the Huskies with six total tackles. Linebacker Seth Hundeby had 5.5 tackles while Chaz Walker had one tackle and one sack.

The Huskies travel to Vancouver for a match up with the defending Hardy Cup champion, University of British Columbia Thunderbirds on Friday, September 20. Last season, Saskatchewan beat UBC 34-31 at Griffiths Stadium.
