You will find lots of fun activities in and around Moose Jaw and area this weekend. The following list highlights some events you won’t want to miss out on.
Homegrown Farmer’s Market
Shop local at the Homegrown Farmer’s Market this Saturday. As usual, the market runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. along Langdon Crescent. You will find all kinds of tasty treats, homemade items, and fresh produce. This Saturday will be Kid’s Day. There will be a magic show and crafts for kids. Plus, Promised Land Band will return for a live performance.
Garage Sale
You never know what treasures you will find at a garage sale. Stop by Central Lutheran Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the second day of their garage sale. Proceeds will go to the church’s Sponsorship Committee.
Journey to Hope
The 11th annual Journey to Hope walk for suicide awareness will take place Saturday. The day will kick off with a musical performance at 10 a.m. at W.J. Jones & Son. A ceremony will follow at 10:30. There will also be raffle draws. Be sure to stop by and show your support.
Happy Birthday Gus!
Stop by to celebrate everyone’s favourite feline at Pet Valu on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Gus, the store’s cat, is having a birthday! Stop by to wish Gus well and to take in a fun event in the store’s parking lot. There will be prizes, games, a BBQ, cake, and an adoption event featuring several different rescue agencies. Magic by Chris will put on a show at 1 p.m. Donations of food to the rescue of your choice will be gladly accepted. The fun will move indoors in case of inclement weather.
Films for Friends
Moose Jaw Families for Change will host its popular Films for Friends series on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Kinsmen Inclusion Centre. This month’s film is Paul Blart: Mall Cop. The cost is $5 per person and includes the movie and popcorn. All proceeds will go to Hunger in Moose Jaw.
D&D Meet Up
The Moose Jaw Gamers Association invites you to attend a D&D session this Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Public Library. Bring your own Adventure League character or build one. Volunteers will be on hand to assist. This program is for ages 16 and up. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Copies of the Player’s Handbook will be available for reference.
Seniors Week Tea
Celebrate Seniors Week at the Western Development Museum on Saturday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served at a special Seniors Week Tea. This program will be a great opportunity to reminisce about the “good old days,” and will feature photos and artifacts. You will also have an opportunity to learn about the WDM Coffee Club. Tea is included with regular museum admission. Tea only is $5 per person. The event is free for WDM members.
Moose Jaw Warriors Home Game
Hockey is back! The Warriors will host the Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday at Mosaic Place. The puck drops at 7 p.m. Tickets are available through the Mosaic Place box office.
25th Anniversary of Victory Church
On Sunday it will be time to celebrate, as Victory Church marks its 25th anniversary. There will be morning services at 9 and 11 a.m. Then at 6 p.m. there will be a celebration service with music, prayer, and dessert.
Fall Supper
Enjoy a delicious roast beef supper this weekend! The meal will be held at the Church of Our Lady Community Centre on Sunday. There will be two sittings, one at 4:30 p.m. and another at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the church office (306-692-2950) or from Rose Mary (306-692-9441), Dom (306-631-9236), Dennis (306-631-1019), or Lawrence (306-692-3152). Adult tickets are $15 and tickets for kids 12 and under are just $8.
