Two dead following crash near Belle Plaine

The accident involved a vehicle pulling a horse trailer at the Belle Plaine turnoff of the Trans-Canada Highway on Saturday

Two people are dead following an accident near Belle Plaine Saturday afternoon.

The RCMP confirmed that an adult man and woman died when they were involved in a crash between their car and a vehicle pulling an empty horse trailer. The accident occurred in the west-bound lane of the Trans-Canada Highway at the turnoff into Belle Plaine.

The accident occurred around 1 p.m. and shut down parts of the Trans-Canada Highway for much of the rest of the day.

EMS attended the scene along with the White Butte RMCP and first responders from Moose Jaw and Pense.

Staff Sgt. Jason Sauve from the White Butte RCMP detachment said the investigation into the accident is on-going. The names of the deceased have not been released.
