The Moose Jaw AAA Warriors are the only team to take a point off the Regina Pat Canadians this season, and apparently Regina was looking for revenge when the two teams met on Thursday night.

The Pat Cs scored three goals in the first period and went on to a 7-0 win in Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League action in Regina.

WHL Warriors prospects Ben Riche and Harper Lolacher each had points in the contest, with Riche scoring Regina’s fourth goal three minutes into the second period and finishing the game with two points; Lolacher scored the Pat Canadian’s last goal with 9:22 gone in the third.

Riche was selected in the second round of the 2020 Bantam Draft and signed his player agreement with the Warriors on Apr. 30 of that year. Riche returned to Regina from the Warriors prior to their game Sept. 25 and has been on a tear ever since, scoring 14 goals and 30 points in 14 games to lead the league in scoring.

Lolacher was the Warriors’ 11th-round pick in 2020 and was signed by the team out of training camp this fall. He has four goals and seven points in 14 games with Regina.

Luke Cote scored twice for the Pat Canadians, Noel Englot, Kayden Reeder and Jacob Zeigler had their other goals.

Ewan Soutar faced only 13 shots in taking the win, Ethan Fechter got the start for Moose Jaw and allowed five goals on 14 shots in 34:09, replacement Ryan Bain allowed two goals on 14 shots the rest of the way.

After scoring 29 goals in three games through the first half of October, the Warriors have fallen on hard times offensively, with nine goals in their next five contests -- four of those coming in one game, a 4-3 overtime win over Battlefords last weekend.

Moose Jaw fell to 7-4-0-0 and sit in seventh place in the 12-team league, three points back of the fourth-place Prince Albert Mintos and four up on the Estevan Bears.

Regina improved to 13-0-0-1, with the one loss a shootout defeat at the hands of the Warriors back on Oct. 2.

The Warriors are back in action Sunday when they travel to Saskatoon to face the 8-2-0-0 Blazers. Game time is 2:30 p.m., and you can follow the score on www.smaaahl.com.

Next home action for Moose Jaw is Nov. 20 when they host the Yorkton Maulers.
