Starbucks Canada announced today that all cafe locations in the country will be enforcing a required mask policy for customers entering the store beginning on Sept. 14.

Customers using the drive-through or curbside pickup options available at some Starbucks locations will not be required to wear a face covering, but those entering the building will.

“The company is committed to playing a constructive role in supporting health and government officials as they work to mitigate the spread of COVID-19,” said a press release from Starbucks Canada. “All decisions are grounded in partner and customer care and safety, based on facts and science, and communicated with transparency.”

Starbucks is just one more business in Moose Jaw that has announced a mandatory masking policy, joining retailers Superstore and Walmart, who announced their decisions earlier in August.

Walmart has been requiring face masks in its stores since Aug. 12, while Superstore began enforcing the policy on Aug. 29.

Select stores inside the Town n’ Country Mall, such as Peoples Jewellers, have also adopted a mandatory mask policy for customers and Galaxy Cinemas is strongly recommending customers wear a mask while visiting the theatre.

The Moose Jaw Public Library and the Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery have also implemented mandatary masking in their facilities.

Moose Jaw city council is meeting later this afternoon to discuss potentially implementing a city-wide masking policy, including on city transit and in city-operated buildings.
