Single-vehicle collision shuts down entrance to Fourth Avenue Bridge

A truck smashed into a light standard and ended up sideways

The Fourth Avenue Bridge was closed for more than an hour after the Moose Jaw Police Service responded to a single-vehicle collision on the structure.

A police truck and a police SUV blocked the on-ramp at the Manitoba Street West entrance on June 3 after an older model blue two-door F1500 truck smashed into a light standard and ended up sideways. Damage to the truck appeared to be limited to the front-left corner of the vehicle.

The police service received a call around 10:18 a.m. that a collision had occurred, an officer on scene said. Police believe the driver may not have paid attention to the road and might have lost control of the truck. They say the driver is doing OK and is in good shape.

A tow truck was called to take away the vehicle. An employee with SaskPower also arrived on scene since the truck had smashed into a light pole, leaving it at an angle.

Police are still investigating the matter.
