Semifinalists set in high school volleyball

Peacock vs. Cornerstone, Briercrest vs. Vanier in girls; Vanier vs. Cornerstone, Avonlea vs. Central in boys
The regular season proved to be a perfect predictor when it came to the Moose Jaw high school volleyball league quarter-finals on Tuesday.

All four favourites emerged victorious and advanced to the league semifinals tonight.

There was one quarter-final game in girls action, with the Cornerstone Christian School Falcons taking a 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 25-14, 25-18) victory over the Central Cyclones. The Falcons will now face the first-place Peacock Toilers in their semifinal Thursday night, with the other semifinal featuring the Briercrest Christian Academy Cougars taking on the Vanier Spirits. Both games are at 6:20 p.m.

In boys quarter-final action, the Central Cyclones emerged victorious from a battle with the Peacock Toilers, coming from behind for a 3-2 (13-25, 18-25, 25-17, 25-13, 15-10) win.

Central will take on Avonlea in their semifinal after the Eagles rolled to a (3-0) 25-17, 25-18, 25-10) victory over Riverview/Mortlach. Game time is 7 p.m.

Cornerstone also advanced to the boys semifinals after taking a 3-1 (25-20, 14-25, 25-20, 27-25) victory over Briercrest Christian. They’ll now face the Vanier Vikings in their semifinal contest as the top-seeded Vikings earned a bye to the semifinals. Game time is 8 p.m.
