Semi-truck knocks down traffic lights downtown

City crews were dispatched to the area to deal with the problem

Motorists had to take a detour away from the intersection of High Street West and First Avenue Northwest around 1 p.m. on Dec. 18, after a semi-truck knocked over the southbound traffic light pole.

The Moose Jaw Express came across the scene a few minutes after the semi-truck driver with Walker's Towing knocked over the light standard. The driver was observed looking at the downed light pole and making a call on his phone. Meanwhile, motorists — many coming back from lunch — could not turn right onto First Avenue Northwest off High Street West, nor could they could drive straight ahead if they were coming from the north.

City crews were dispatched to the area to deal with the problem, while the Moose Jaw Police Service directed traffic away from the corner.
