SaskPower has revealed that a man thought to be a scammer was in fact a SaskPower electrical inspector.

On Sept. 23, Indian Head RCMP issued a press release about a suspicious occurrence in Montmartre, which is approximately 160 km east of Moose Jaw.

The police reported that on Sept. 3 a man approached a Montmartre residence, identifying himself as a SaskPower employee. He had an ID badge around his neck. The man claimed he had received an email from the homeowners requesting repairs of outlets, lights, and switches inside their residence.  The homeowners said no such email had been sent.

The man was denied entry into the home and quickly left in a brown SUV that was marked with SaskPower logos.

After investigating, SaskPower says the man was there to conduct legitimate business.

However, it is still a good idea to report any suspicous activties to the RCMP or your local police service.
