Rain, rain go away: All-Stars, Miller Express rained out

Little League tournament moved forward a day, Miller Express to play doubleheader on Wednesday.

The weather played a bit of havoc with baseball schedules on Tuesday night, resulting in a pair of postponements.

The Moose Jaw Major AAA Little League All-Stars will have to wait another day in their quest for a provincial championship after the early-evening storm washed out the first game of the ‘A-B’ final at Gamble Diamond in Bell Park.

Moose Jaw was to face North Regina, who took a mercy-rule win over Regina Kiwanis in the ‘B’ final on Monday night.

The rescheduling is simple – everything will just be pushed ahead a day, with the All-Stars and North Regina now taking the field at 6 p.m. on Wednesday night; a North Regina win there would force a second game in the double knock-out tournament on Thursday, same time, same place.

The tournament champion will advance to the Canadian Little League Championship Aug. 1-10 in Ancaster, Ont., with the national champion representing Canada at the legendary Little League World Series Aug. 15-25 in Williamsport, Penn.

For the Moose Jaw Miller Express, their Western Canadian Baseball League contest with the Lethbridge Bulls was also postponed, with the two teams now playing a doubleheader on Wednesday at Ross Wells Park.

Game one will go at 4:30 p.m., game two at 7 p.m., with both contests being seven innings.

The third game of the Bulls visit will take place Thursday at Ross Wells. Game time is 7 p.m.
