Pee Wee Warriors fall to Yorkton in Game 2 of quarter-final

Game 3 set for Sunday in Yorkton, winner advances to Sask AA Hockey League South Conference third round
The Moose Jaw Pee Wee AA Warriors were only three minutes and change from booking a spot in the Sask AA Hockey League South Conference semifinals on Saturday afternoon.

Now they’ll need a win on the road over the Yorkton Terriers if they’re to keep their season alive.

The Warriors dropped a 3-2 decision in overtime to the Terriers at Red Knight Arena, a loss that combined with their 2-1 win back on Feb. 29 will force a deciding Game 3 on Sunday in Yorkton.

Almost all the scoring in regulation of Game 2 came in the first period, as Kierin Osberg got Moose Jaw on the board 6:26 into the game, and after Yorkton’s Alex Morrison tied the game two minutes later, Brodyn Pladson would put the Warriors ahead 2-1 with 2:30 left in the period.

That would be it for goals until Yorkton’s Max Threinen scored wth 3:38 remaining in the game to second the contest into overtime.

There, Yorkton carried the play much of the way through the opening period of extra time – except for a stretch with five minutes left when Pladson was sprung on a breakaway and stopped by Yorkton goaltender Kale Gorski, who was then bailed out by a save by one of his defenceman when Carter Hudyma attempted to bury the rebound.

That would end up being their best chance, though, and Dylan Brass would score on the power play with 6:42 remaining to give Yorkton the 3-2 win.

Casson Silbernagel went the distance in goal for the Warriors.
