The Peacock Arts Collective is beginning their concert series this year with another show focused on movie scores through the ages, on Oct. 28.
Titled 'Peacock Goes to the Movies Vol. 3,' the concert will feature an incredible lineup of familiar movie themes, synced to film clips, played by A.E. Peacock Collegiate’s senior concert band.
The lineup will include familiar music both new and old, like the Avengers theme, and classic themes like Toy Story.
“It is a big challenge for students to prepare this music in a short six to seven week period. The goal of the concert is to have an engaging concert for our audience, but really give our students a big challenge to set up the work ethic for the rest of the year,” said Cameron Church, music director, in an email with the Moose Jaw Express.
Accompanying the senior concert band this year will be the concert choir for a joint piece, as well as a member of staff featuring as a special guest drummer.
Due to delays with the finishing touches on the Centennial Auditorium’s renovations, the concert will take place in the Drama Room on the main floor of the school.
The show begins at 7 p.m., and there is no cost of admission — although there will be candy bags for sale to support the jazz band students’ upcoming trip to the Vic Lewis Festival in Canmore, Alberta on Nov. 1.
