MOOSE JAW -- The wins just keep adding up for the Moose Jaw Canucks in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League 15U AAA division.

The Canucks ran their record to a perfect 15-0 on Tuesday night thanks to a 5-2 victory over the Regina Wolfpack at Blackwell Diamond in Moose Jaw.

Moose Jaw now has a 3 ½ game lead over the second-place Saskatoon Brewers and have outscored their opposition by more than 100 runs across their 15 games. Tuesday’s contest was only the second time they’ve been held to fewer than nine runs in league play, and was also only the second time they haven’t hit double digits on the scoreboard.

The Canucks got things going with a pair of runs in the first inning thanks to an error and handful of wild pitches before tacking on another run in the second for an early 3-0 lead.

Regina got one back in the fourth, but two more insurance runs for Moose Jaw in the fifth would essentially put the game away, and they’d hold on for the win.

Emery Schoenroth led the Canucks offence with a 1-for-3 showing that included a pair of runs scored, while Taylor Usher also crossed the plate twice.

Regina had only three hits in the contest, but Jayce Cookson would make sure one of them was a big one, hitting a solo home run in the seventh.

Neal Kohl was a major reason for Regina’s lack of offensive output as he came a single inning away from tossing an impressive complete game. As it stands, Kohl turned in a quality start and carried a two-hitter until Cookson’s home run, finishing with three hits allowed while striking out nine and allowing two runs, one earned.

Dillon Flanagan had no issues finishing things off, facing the final four batters and getting a strikeout before earning the save.

Cookson got the start for Regina and settled down after his early control issues, eventually allowing three runs, one earned on a single hit over 2 ⅓ while walking a pair and striking out five. Dawson Palaniuk allowed two runs over the next 2 ⅓, Wyatt Laird closed things out for the Red Sox.

The Canucks are back in action on Friday when they travel to Regina to face the Athletics, with first pitch at 6 p.m., Next home action is a doubleheader against the Sask Five Giants on Sunday, with Game 1 beginning at 12 p.m. at Blackwell Diamond.

The Wolfpack (4-14) play against Wednesday, June 25 against the Regina Athletics, with game time at 6 p.m.
