Thankfully, everyone is safe.

Earlier this afternoon, the Moose Jaw Police Service received a call about a potential cougar sighting in the Wakamow Valley.

Police went to the area, accompanied by conservation officers. With the assistance of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV/drone), police were unable to locate the cougar. Conservation officers determined the sighting was most likely a common house cat that resides in the area.

No cougar tracks were located.

The MJPS thank the community for their cooperation and assistance while the area was searched.

This is the third time in recent memory that police have responded to a cougar sighting in the city limits. A cougar was spotted in the city back in September and was ultimately euthanized. Another cougar sighting was reported near Sunningdale School earlier this month, but police did not find any sign of an animal in the area.
