Miller Express announce signing of infielder, catcher for 2021 campaign

Randazzo, Greenhalgh latest signees as WCBL squad continues to fill out roster

The Moose Jaw Miller Express recently announced the signing of infielders Colby Greenhalgh from Johnson and Wales University and Stephen Randazzo from Drury University.
The Moose Jaw Miller Express continued to fill out their line-up over the holidays, signing a pair of hard-hitting infielders to the local squad for the 2021 Western Canadian Baseball League campaign.

St. Louis, Mo. product Stephen Randazzo was announced just before Christmas and will join the team out of Drury Univiersity in Springfield, Mo., an NCAA Divsion II squad that plays out of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Randazzo is entering his junior season and showed a fair amount of pop at the plate in his sophomore campaign with the Panthers during their pandemic-shortened season this past spring.

Playing in 11 games and starting in eight, Randazzo hit .342 with 10 runs batted in and 10 runs scored to go along with a solid .919 on-base plus slugging percentage (OPS). He also suited up for five games as a freshman and was named to the GLVC All-Academic team in 2019.

Interestingly enough, Randazzo — who stands at 6-foot-1 and weighs 205 pounds — was the captain of the DeSmet Jesuit High School hockey team, where he put up eight goals and 20 points in 22 games in his senior year.

The Express also announced Tuesday the signing of Colby Greenhalgh, a catcher out of Johnson and Wales University in the Division III Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

And if the Plainfield, Conn. native can put together the kind of offence he did for the Wildcats the past two seasons, Miller Express fans could be in for some fireworks at Ross Wells Park this summer.

JWU took the field for only six games in the COVID-shortened campaign, but Greenhalgh — who was a senior in 2020 but has retained a year of eligibility due to the pandemic — put on a show, racking 12 hits in 23 at bats for a .522 average, one home run and seven RBI to go along with a 1.202 OPS.

Greenhalgh’s junior season was just as impressive, as the 5-foot-9, 185-pound backstop hit .397 over 39 games, cracking a team-high five home runs and knocking in 31 runs while putting together a ridiculous 1.372 OPS. At season’s end, he was named first-team all-GNAC to go along with winning the GNAC player of the week award three times.

Randazzo and Drury University open their abbreviated 2021 GLVC spring baseball schedule on Apr. 6, while Greenhalgh and JWU have yet to release their schedule.

The Miller Express open the 2021 WCBL campaign on May 28 when they take on the Medicine Hat Mavericks at Ross Wells Park.
